Rays beat Blue Jays, Wander Franco homers

Shane McClanahan allowed one run in seven innings, lowering his ERA to 1.74, Wander Franco and Isaac Paredes hit solo home runs and the Tampa Bay Rays snapped a four-game losing streak by beating the Toronto Blue Jays 6- 2 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman exited after being hit in the ankle by Franco’s groundout in the second inning. X-rays came back negative.

McClanahan (9-3) gave up three hits and a walk and struck out 10, including five of the last six batters he faced. The lefty hasn’t allowed more than one earned run in nine of his last 10 starts.

Javy Guerra got three outs and Phoenix Sanders closed out.

Right-hander Casey Lawrence replaced Guzman in the third inning. Lawrence (0-1) allowed six runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.
