Ranji Trophy: Ajinkya Rahane gave a fitting response to critics, scored a century on the first day of the Ranji Trophy

After an unsuccessful performance in Test cricket for the past two years, Ajinkya Rahane’s bat has finally thrown runs. Rahane has marked a brilliant century playing for Mumbai. He not only scored a century in this match but also supported his team which had lost 3 wickets for 44 runs. Thanks to this century, the Mumbai team scored 263 runs with the loss of 3 wickets on the first day of the Ranji match.

Mumbai’s first match at the Ranji Trophy is against Saurashtra. Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and chose to bat first. Saurashtra bowlers sent the top order from Mumbai to the pavilion for 44 runs. From here, Ajinkya Rahane took the crease and made a century-long partnership with Sarfaraz Khan for fourth wicket. His tackles got the team out of sticky situations. Rahane completed his 100th run in 212 balls. During this he also hit 14 fours and 2 sixes. At the end of the first day’s game, he came back undefeated with 108 runs.

Rahane, who was close to scoring 5000 runs in international test cricket, was unable to play big innings for a long time. In the last 19 Test matches, he was able to score 819 runs with an average of just 24. He hasn’t even scored a century in the last year and a half. It was a complete flop even on the South African tour. It was believed that if he couldn’t even walk in the Ranji Trophy, then maybe he could have a permanent license from international cricket. For now, after this wonderful entry, he has put an end to these speculations.
