Ranbir Kapoor Goes Vegan, Sober for Lord Ram Role in ‘Ramayan’

Actor Ravi Dubey recently detailed the profound dedication of Ranbir Kapoor and Yash for Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film, “Ramayana: Part 1.” Dubey, who portrays Lakshman in the epic, shared his insights on a recent podcast.

Ranbir Kapoor, cast as Lord Ram, has reportedly made significant personal sacrifices for the role. He has completely abstained from alcohol and meat. This commitment aims to authentically embody the deity’s purity.

Dubey described the production as a “tapasya,” or penance, and a “yagna,” a sacred ritual. He stated that working under Nitesh Tiwari, Namit Malhotra, and Mukesh Chhabra felt like a spiritual journey.

Ranbir maintains a peaceful and humble presence on set, according to Dubey. He is quiet but commands attention once the cameras begin rolling. His unwavering dedication is inspiring to co-stars.

Yash, playing Raavan, also displays immense commitment but with a different demeanor. Dubey noted Yash’s warm and simple personality, engaging easily with the crew. However, he fully transforms into his character when filming starts.

Both actors, despite their distinct personalities, are described as inherently kind-hearted. Their shared dedication elevates the ambitious project.

“Ramayana: Part 1” is slated for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release. “Part 2” is planned for Diwali 2027.

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavan, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. This grand production aims to achieve global recognition for Indian cinema.
