As the holy month of Ramadan commenced on March 2, Muslims around the world have been observing their fasts and engaging in acts of worship. Actress Rakhi Sawant, who converted to Islam after marrying Adil Khan Durrani and took on the name Fatima, is also using this opportunity to perform good deeds. Recently, several videos have surfaced on her Instagram account, showcasing her distributing free food to those in need during iftar, the meal eaten to break the fast. Furthermore, it’s been reported that she has sponsored the umrah pilgrimage for 20 underprivileged individuals, covering all their expenses.
Rakhi can be seen in the videos wearing a burqa, with only her face visible. She shares that she was invited by the Dubai police to distribute iftar to 100 workers, which is why she is there. She emphasizes that everyone should engage in such charitable acts, saying, “The essence of fasting is not just about abstaining from food, but also about doing good for others.” Rakhi also discussed her approach to fasting, suggesting that it’s not just about eating less but also about eating wisely, as overeating during sehri (the pre-dawn meal) can be detrimental to one’s health.
Rakhi Sawant Sponsors Umrah for 20 People
Rakhi further shared, “We have given free food to many people. May God continue to guide me towards such noble deeds. I want to help people in every way possible, especially during Ramadan.” By sponsoring the umrah pilgrimage for 20 underprivileged individuals, Rakhi has indeed demonstrated her commitment to the values of compassion and kindness that are emphasized during this holy month. It’s worth noting that the cost for one person to go on umrah, including travel expenses, can be around Rs 1 lakh. Therefore, Rakhi’s gesture would have cost her around Rs 20 lakhs.
