Superstar Rajinikanth has kicked off the shooting for ‘Jailer 2’ in Kerala, and fans are already going wild. As soon as he landed in the state, Rajinikanth was mobbed by admirers at the airport. Videos of the chaotic welcome have taken social media by storm.
The ‘Thalaivar’ – as he’s affectionately known – got an equally grand reception at his hotel, where staff greeted him with a traditional welcome ceremony, complete with aarti (a ritual where a flame is offered to a deity or respected guest) at the entrance. Rajinikanth was visibly touched by the gesture and thanked the staff for their warm hospitality.
Co-star Ramya Krishnan joins the ‘Jailer 2’ crew
Ramya Krishnan has also arrived in Kerala to start filming for ‘Jailer 2’, where she’ll play a key role. The first part of the film was shot in March 2025, and now the crew is back for the second leg of the project.
The makers released a promo for ‘Jailer 2’ on January 14, giving fans a glimpse into what’s in store. While the exact plot remains under wraps, it’s confirmed that retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian will return in the sequel.
The original ‘Jailer’ was a massive hit, raking in ₹348.55 crore domestically and ₹604.5 crore worldwide. Directed by Nelson Dilip Kumar, the film cemented Rajinikanth’s status as a box office powerhouse.
