Qualcomm just opened a new AI research center in Hanoi, Vietnam. This center will bring together top researchers, scientists, and AI experts from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. They’ll focus on developing two types of AI: GenAI and Agentic AI. These AI types will be used in smartphones, PCs, XR, cars, and IoT devices.
The director of Qualcomm in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos says this center aligns with Vietnam’s AI, semiconductor, and digital transformation strategies. Qualcomm will support the center by sharing technology and working with local organizations and companies.
Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Le Duc Dzung, attended the event. He believes the AI center will boost Vietnam’s AI research capabilities and train more AI experts. It will also support Vietnam’s economic development.
On the same day, the Vietnamese Party Secretary, To Lam, met with Alex Rogers, Qualcomm’s global president, in Hanoi. Rogers was in town for the AI center launch. To Lam asked Qualcomm to keep expanding its business in Vietnam, including semiconductors and digital infrastructure.
