PSL Suffers Low Attendance, Fewer Fans than Security Guards at Karachi Match

The Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) 10th edition kicked off on April 11, with the third match between Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings at Karachi’s National Stadium. Despite a heavy security presence, the stadium was largely empty, with fewer fans attending than security personnel.

The PSL features 34 matches, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) timed it to coincide with the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the attendance figures tell a different story. While the first match drew a decent crowd, the third match saw a sparse turnout.

A Pakistani journalist shared a photo on social media, revealing that 6,700 security personnel were deployed for the match, while only around 5,000 fans attended. This meant there were 1,500 fewer fans than security personnel.

On the field, Karachi Kings chased down a 235-run target to win by four wickets. James Vince scored 101 runs off 43 balls, hitting four sixes and 14 fours. Khushdil Shah contributed 60 runs from 37 balls, with four sixes and five fours.

Multan Sultans had set a target of 234 runs, led by Mohammad Rizwan’s 105 runs from 63 balls, including five sixes and nine fours. Vince was named the man of the match for his match-winning performance.
