A group of pro-Palestinian activists, identified as Palestine Action, carried out a daring vandalism attack on Donald Trump’s golf resort in Scotland, causing significant damage to the property. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, March 8, 2024, was reportedly a direct response to the US government’s plans to annex Gaza.
According to eyewitnesses, the activists sprayed large letters on the grass, reading “GAZA IS NOT 4 SALE,” and also damaged the green areas and sprayed red paint on the clubhouse. The group claimed that this act of vandalism was a retaliation against the US government’s intentions to ethnically cleanse Gaza.
The incident has sparked widespread attention, particularly given the recent controversy surrounding Trump’s proposed plans for Gaza. In February, Trump faced backlash from Palestinians and Arab nations after suggesting that the US should take control of Gaza and turn it into a “Riviera of the Middle East,” while forcibly relocating Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to countries like Egypt or Jordan.
The Palestine Action group also referenced a video clip shared by Trump online, which depicted destroyed Palestinian homes being rebuilt as a seaside resort under the Trump brand. The video featured Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lounging by a pool, sipping cocktails.
The group stated, “While Trump tries to treat Gaza as his own property, he should know that his own properties are within reach.” The Scottish police have launched an investigation into the incident, which was reported at around 4:40 am local time.
The Turnberry resort, where the incident occurred, is one of two Scottish resorts owned by Trump. Located in southwest Scotland, it holds significant personal importance for Trump, as Scotland is the birthplace of his mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump.
A spokesperson for the Turnberry resort condemned the vandalism, calling it a “crime” and “childish behavior.” However, they assured that the incident would not impact the resort’s business operations.
