British golfer James Morrison has established a significant lead at the Rolex Grand Final in Mallorca, the concluding event of the Challenge Tour.
Morrison stands 13 strokes under par, topping the leaderboard as the tournament heads into its final day. South Africa’s Daniel van Tonder and Scotland’s Euan Walker are tied for second place, three strokes behind Morrison.
The prestigious tournament, held at the Alcanada golf club, features a limited field of 45 professional golfers. Unlike most events, it does not include a traditional ‘cut’ before the final two rounds.
Portuguese golfer Pedro Figueiredo moved up to a tie for 21st position on Saturday. Figueiredo completed his round with 70 strokes, finishing two shots under par for the day.
His Saturday performance included four birdies and two bogeys. Figueiredo’s total score for the tournament is 213 strokes, following earlier rounds of 69 on Thursday and 74 on Friday.
The Rolex Grand Final is scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
