A newly launched Portuguese news channel, NOW, outperformed rivals CNN Portugal and SIC Notícias in a crucial prime-time slot, driven by an interview with presidential candidate Marques Mendes.
NOW achieved an average of 77,700 viewers per minute and a 1.8% share between 8 PM and midnight local time. This period is considered key for television consumption and advertising revenue.
During the same hours, CNN Portugal registered 65,800 viewers per minute and a 1.5% share, placing it behind NOW.
NOW’s main newscast, “Jornal à Noite do NOW,” also surpassed SIC Notícias. It secured 82,600 viewers per minute and a 1.7% share.
SIC Notícias followed with 78,100 viewers per minute and a 1.6% share during the same broadcast slot.
Journalist Marisa Caetano Antunes conducted the interview with Marques Mendes on NOW’s evening news program.
NOW is a television project operated by Medialivre. It combines content from various publications, including Record, Máxima, Sábado, and Negócios.
The channel is available on channel 9 for major Portuguese television providers such as MEO, NOS, Vodafone, NOWO, and DIGI.
