Portugal Women’s Water Polo in Loulé Final vs Tenerife Echeyde, Eyes 2026 Euros

Portuguese women's water polo team

The Portuguese women’s water polo team punched their ticket to the final round this past Saturday. They’re playing in the Loulé International Tournament. Their next big game, set for Sunday, will be against Tenerife Echeyde. The team navigated the group stage to secure their spot.

It wasn’t a completely easy path to the title match. In their last group games, Portugal faced Tenerife Echeyde, losing 13-8. That’s the same strong team they’ll meet again in the final. After that, they played Dos Hermanas to a 16-16 tie. Dos Hermanas then won the penalty shootout to settle that particular match.

Still, the Portuguese squad gathered four important points from their win and Saturday’s draw. These points were enough to push them into the tournament’s final contest. That championship match is scheduled for 11:00 AM. This whole tournament serves as crucial practice. It helps Portugal get ready for the 2026 Women’s European Water Polo Championship.
