Portimonense-Oliveirense 1-1: Dramatic 97th-Minute Penalty Saves Point

Portimonense secured a dramatic last-minute equalizer from the penalty spot in injury time to draw 1-1 with Oliveirense, salvaging a vital point in their Portuguese Second League match on Saturday.

Tamble Monteiro converted the penalty in the seventh minute of added time, canceling out Bruno Silva’s 61st-minute opener for Oliveirense.

The result, played out at the Estádio Municipal de Portimão, leaves both teams tied on 12 points in the league standings after 11 rounds. Oliveirense sits 11th, while Portimonense holds 12th place with one game in hand.

Oliveirense’s Bruno Silva, who entered the match as a substitute at halftime, broke the deadlock with a goal after a counter-attack.

Portimonense had shown dominance earlier in the game, with Ricardo Ribeiro, Oliveirense’s goalkeeper, making several crucial saves to deny the home side, notably in the opening 15 minutes and the early stages of the second half.

Despite Portimonense’s attacking pressure, including a close call from Francisco Canário, Oliveirense almost extended their lead when Gustavão hit the post before the penalty incident. The equalizer came after Vasco Santos of Oliveirense fouled Welinton Júnior.

The match saw a total of 10 yellow cards issued, reflecting a fiercely contested encounter.

Referee Diogo Rosa officiated the game, which was attended by 680 spectators.
