What started as a routine practice run for an upcoming air show in central Poland turned into a sudden, heartbreaking tragedy. A Polish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed during its flight maneuvers. The accident claimed the life of the pilot, ending a promising career.

The incident unfolded on Thursday evening, August 28, 2025. The F-16 was practicing for the Radom Air Show, an event known for its thrilling aerial displays. As the jet performed a barrel roll, it unexpectedly went down. The aircraft slammed into the runway, erupting into a huge fireball.

Witnesses and local media captured images of the shocking event. Video evidence clearly showed the pilot could not eject from the aircraft in time. This meant he had no chance to escape the fiery impact.

The pilot was identified as Lieutenant Maciej Słab Krakowiak. He was the commander of the Polish Air Force’s elite Tiger Demo Team. His death is a profound loss for the military aviation community.

Poland’s Defense Minister quickly traveled to the crash site. He later shared his deep sorrow over the pilot’s death. The minister praised Lieutenant Krakowiak for his immense bravery and dedicated service to the nation.
