Penafiel ended a three-game winless streak by defeating Vizela 3-1 away on Sunday, capitalizing on defensive miscues in a match for Portugal’s 2nd League.
The visitors secured the victory in the 10th round of the season, overcoming a stalemate at halftime. Penafiel’s clinical finishing, particularly in the later stages, proved decisive after both sides committed errors.
After a goalless first half, Penafiel’s Iano Simรฃo opened the scoring in the 51st minute following strong team play. Vizela responded when รtalo Henrique equalized in the 64th minute, an unfortunate goal conceded by Penafiel goalkeeper Joan Femenรญas.
Vizela then pressed for a go-ahead goal, with chances from Jota Gonรงalves and Thio, but Femenรญas made key saves. The game turned decisively in the 80th minute when Davo scored for Penafiel, exploiting a critical error from Vizela’s Moha Moukhliss.
