Penafiel ended a three-game winless streak by defeating Vizela 3-1 away on Sunday, capitalizing on defensive miscues in a match for Portugal’s 2nd League.
The visitors secured the victory in the 10th round of the season, overcoming a stalemate at halftime. Penafiel’s clinical finishing, particularly in the later stages, proved decisive after both sides committed errors.
After a goalless first half, Penafiel’s Iano Simão opened the scoring in the 51st minute following strong team play. Vizela responded when Ítalo Henrique equalized in the 64th minute, an unfortunate goal conceded by Penafiel goalkeeper Joan Femenías.
Vizela then pressed for a go-ahead goal, with chances from Jota Gonçalves and Thio, but Femenías made key saves. The game turned decisively in the 80th minute when Davo scored for Penafiel, exploiting a critical error from Vizela’s Moha Moukhliss.
Cláudio Silva sealed Penafiel’s victory in the first minute of stoppage time, deflecting a shot after a corner to make the score 3-1.
