Pedro Lima confident AVS will improve, secure first win after Benfica defeat

Pedro Lima stepped onto the field early, just sixteen minutes in. He replaced an injured Bruno Lourenço. The Brazilian quickly became one of the most upset AVS players during their 3-0 loss to Benfica. After the game, Lima made it clear that the goal scored right before halftime changed everything.

“I honestly think we played a good first half,” Lima told Sport TV. “We created the best chances ourselves. It’s really tough to let in a goal right at the end of the half. But we’re still proud of our effort.” He added, “I came into the game because of an injury, but I hope we keep getting better. We need to find that first win soon.”

AVS has yet to win any game this season. However, Lima promised the team would fight hard to turn things around. “It bothers us that we haven’t won,” he said. “We go into every match wanting to win. But I truly believe we are improving.” Lima stressed, “We just need to keep going. The league is long. We have to keep working hard. We will definitely get better.”

He also brushed off talk about coach José Mota leaving. “The coach change isn’t our concern,” Lima explained. “That’s a matter for the club’s board.” He pointed out, “This past week, we trained just like always. We worked hard and focused. We showed what we practiced, but we just couldn’t score. That’s the most important thing. We deserve credit for our attitude on the field.”
