Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently revealed he declined an offer to join the cast of Ajay Devgn’s hit franchise, Drishyam 3. Rawal cited dissatisfaction with the specific role he was offered, despite praising the film’s script.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rawal explained his decision. "Makers had approached me, but the role offered was not enjoyable," he stated. He added, "The script was brilliant, but if you can’t connect with the character, there’s no joy in working."
Drishyam 3 will see Ajay Devgn and Shriya Saran reprise their lead roles. Abhishek Pathak is directing the sequel, which is being produced under Kumar Mangat’s banner. This installment follows the successful 2015 film Drishyam and its 2022 sequel Drishyam 2.
The Hindi Drishyam franchise is an adaptation of the acclaimed 2013 Malayalam film, which starred Mohanlal. Interestingly, a Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 is also in simultaneous production, with Mohanlal currently engaged in filming.
The production of Drishyam 3 has already faced a notable dispute regarding its teaser release. Hindi remake producer Kumar Mangat reportedly announced a release date of October 2, 2026. This announcement reportedly angered the original Malayalam team, including director Jeethu Joseph and producer Antony Perumbavoor.
Reports suggest that an existing agreement mandates the Hindi producers to secure permission from the original creators before making any official announcements. Consequently, the teaser release for Drishyam 3 has been postponed.
Meanwhile, Paresh Rawal continues a busy acting schedule. He recently appeared in the horror-comedy Thaama, alongside Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. That film was directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik.
Rawal has several major projects in the pipeline. His upcoming films include Hera Pheri 3, The Taj Story, Bhoot Bangla, and Welcome to the Jungle.
