Paraguay Joins WRC in 2025

Paraguay enters the World Rally Championship in 2025

Paraguay will host the World Rally Championship (WRC) from next year until 2027, with the department of Itapúa in the south serving as the main location. The department shares a border with Argentina.

The announcement was made by Paraguayan President Santiago Peña, who signed an agreement to bring the Grand Paraguayan WRC Championship to the country over the next three years.

According to the president, next year, only two countries in the American continent will host the WRC, Chile and Paraguay. He challenged his compatriots to organize the “best event” and celebrated the fact that Paraguay will now have a place in the world.

This will be the 38th country to host a round of the World Rally Championship, which is the premium rally series of the International Automobile Federation (FIA). The competition will feature high-performance cars with hybrid propulsion and the best drivers in the world, competing in various environments.

The epicenter of the competition will be Itapúa and its capital, Encarnación. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed his gratitude to the Paraguayan Touring and Automobile Club and the organizers of the Paraguay Rally for their efforts in developing the sport, as well as President Peña for his support.
