Veteran actor Pankaj Tripathi is making his debut as a producer with the new web series “Perfect Family.” The trailer for the series was released on Thursday.
The show aims to deliver an important message while also being entertaining. It focuses on the critical topic of mental health, specifically how it is often overlooked in Indian families.
“Perfect Family” features a notable cast including Neha Dhupia, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, Gulshan Devaiah, and Girija Oak.
The story centers on the Karkaria family, a joint family spanning multiple generations. The youngest member, Dani, experiences panic attacks.
A psychologist, played by Neha Dhupia, identifies Dani as highly sensitive and struggling to adapt to the family environment. However, the family initially resists accepting the existence of mental health issues.
As the family eventually seeks therapy, they face societal backlash. People label them as “mad” or “mental.” Manoj Pahwa’s character, the family patriarch, denies the possibility of mental illness affecting them, prompting the doctor to clarify her assessment.
The series consists of eight episodes and will be released exclusively on YouTube. It will operate under a paid model.
The first two episodes will be available for free viewing. Subsequent episodes can be accessed for a payment of 59 Indian Rupees, which is approximately $0.70 USD.
Despite tackling a serious subject, the series promises a humorous approach. It seeks to highlight the societal lack of awareness regarding mental well-being.
“Perfect Family” is set to premiere on November 27 on the JAR Series YouTube channel.
