Pamela Anderson Left US for Vancouver Island Roots and Family Home

Pamela Anderson made a big decision. She chose to leave the United States after living in California for decades. It was a major shift for the well-known actress.

The star, famous for films like “Naked Gun,” sold her beautiful Malibu home in November 2021. She had owned the property for over 20 years. News reports from the time confirmed the sale price was $11.8 million. She originally bought the house in December 2000 for $1.8 million. Looking back on her old home, Anderson shared with the New York Post in March 2021 that "many sensual and fun moments happened here."

Anderson felt ready for a significant change in her life. She believed it was the right time to leave the U.S. and reconnect with her origins.

Let’s explore where Anderson lives now and why she decided to step away from the Hollywood scene.

Where Pamela Anderson Lives Today

Anderson now calls Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada home. This large island sits off Canada’s west coast. It’s known for its mild weather, natural beauty, and a generally relaxed way of life. Tourism Vancouver Island describes the region perfectly. They say it features ancient rainforests, rugged coastlines, and the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean. This creates many chances for outdoor fun and peaceful getaways.

Anderson often shares glimpses of her life on Instagram. Her century-old farmhouse and a beautiful garden are frequently featured. This property has been in her family for generations. It’s called Arcady, a name that means "a peaceful and rustic place." She described it to Architectural Digest in October 2024. “I think it’s like a wild flower sanctuary – mystical, very romantic,” she said. “I live in a rainforest, so it feels very, I don’t know, healthy.” She also mentioned her love for neutral colors and natural materials. “Of course I love neutral colors. I love linen and everything is very earthy; there’s wood, white, concrete, and I love that too.” Anderson added, "It’s eclectic, I like to have fun. It’s full of childhood memories, so it’s overwhelming!”

Why Pamela Anderson Left the U.S.

Anderson’s move to Canada happened during her marriage to Dan Hayhurst. That union lasted from 2020 to 2022. She told the New York Post about her new sense of peace. “I feel more stable on my sustainable ranch on Vancouver Island, with room to rescue more animals,” she explained. “It’s still beachfront. A step away from the water, and I get lost.”

Returning to her childhood home was deeply meaningful for Anderson. She was born and grew up in Ladysmith, British Columbia. The move gave her a chance to truly reflect on her life. "Some years ago, at some point I just gave up and needed a change," Anderson told Better Homes & Gardens in August 2024. “I thought, ‘Well, I guess that’s what people think of me.’”

She admitted she wasn’t in a good place emotionally when she first came back to Canada. "I don’t know what happened in the last few decades, but now I feel very far from the image of who I was," she said. Anderson shared her raw feelings. “I felt very sad and alone. Not only did I feel misunderstood, I felt like I had really messed everything up, that my whole life was a bunch of mistakes.” She was critical of herself, thinking she had put her family and sons through too much. (Anderson has two sons, Brandon and Dylan, with her former husband Tommy Lee.)

Anderson said she "decided to go home and disappear." A big part of her healing process involved gardening. "And when I started building the garden, it was really like a metaphor for rebuilding my life,” she commented. “I started planting seeds and the smallest things became really profound.”

Pamela Anderson’s Time in France

Before settling down in Canada, Anderson had a temporary move to France. This happened during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. She recounted her journey to Better Homes & Gardens. "It was at the beginning and during lockdown,” she said. “Before that, I spent two years in France, living in Marseille, and then I flew to Los Angeles and then went to Canada.”

She bought her current property and began renovating it. “You should see the before pictures. It was deteriorated and rotten to the core," she revealed. While working on the main house, she lived in another small, livable beach house she owned nearby.
