Pakistan vs New Zealand: Imam-ul-Haq Injured, Match Marred by Floodlight Failure

The third ODI match between Pakistan and New Zealand was filled with drama. Pakistan lost the series 0-3. A bizarre incident happened during the match – the floodlights went out, plunging the field into darkness.
This happened during the 39th over of Pakistan’s innings. Jacob Duffy was about to bowl when the lights went out.
Tayyab Tahir was on strike and had to move away from the stumps to avoid any injury.

Close Call

A video of the incident didn’t show if Duffy had released the ball. If it had hit a batsman or fielder, it could have caused a serious injury. The match was delayed for a while. When it resumed, Tahir seemed out of rhythm. Before the lights went out, he was batting well, scoring 33 runs off 30 balls. But after the restart, he got out on the very next ball.

Tough Day for Imam-ul-Haq

Imam-ul-Haq had a bad day. He got hit on the face by a ball and was taken off the field on a stretcher. He had to retire hurt and was replaced by Usman Khan. Pakistan lost the match by 43 runs – their seventh loss in the last five white-ball matches.
