Pakistan Flood: The US has sent 10 aid missions to deliver more than one million pounds of vital humanitarian supplies and equipment to Pakistan to deal with the devastating floods caused by heavy monsoon rains. Floods in Pakistan have killed nearly 1,400 people, injured 12,728 others and destroyed more than 1.7 million homes, more than 4 million acres of agricultural land and 6,674 kilometers of roads. The US Department of Defense (DOD) is supporting the efforts of the US Agency for International Development (USID) to deal with the devastating floods in Pakistan.

America will continue to send similar aid to Pakistan for the next several days.

“Our condolences are certainly with those who have been affected by this terrible natural disaster,” Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said at a press conference on Tuesday. “DoD has so far supported the US Administration’s USAID-led response by providing critical airlift and staging support,” he said. Ryder said, “The C-17 and C-130 aircraft assigned to the Central Command of the US Air Force have conducted 10 support missions in Pakistan, carrying more than 1 million pounds of critical humanitarian supplies to help the Pakistani people.” And the equipment has been delivered. We expect to continue helping at this rate for the next several days.” He said the humanitarian aid sent to Pakistan includes emergency food supplies, drinking water, sanitation supplies and equipment, portable (temporary) shelters, bedding, cleaning kits and kitchen supplies.
