Paid parking: here are the 10 most expensive cities in France

Parking your car becomes a luxury. The cost of parking continues to increase in the metropolises of France. The goal of the municipalities: to reduce the presence of cars on their territory. On average, to park in one of the ten most expensive cities in France, you have to pay 2.18 euros per hour. Here is the ranking.

10. Strasbourg

The metropolis of Strasbourg ranks tenth in the ranking of the ten most expensive cities in France in terms of parking. On average, a motorist who wants to park his car in Strasbourg must pay 1.40 euros per hour. The post-parking package (FPS), which replaces the fine of 17 euros, is 35 euros for the Alsatian municipality. The price is single but the maximum parking time varies, the city being divided into three zones.

9. Lille

The city of Lille takes the ninth position. The Hauts-de-France prefecture offers an average hourly rate of 2 euros. As for the post-parking package, its amount has remained the same as that of the fine it replaces: 17 euros. The parking limit has been set at five hours.

8. Montpellier

Head south with Montpellier which settles in eighth place. The Hérault prefecture offers motorists who wish to park their vehicle in its streets at a rate of 2 euros per hour. The parking limit was set at five hours by the municipality. For Montpellier, the amount of the FPS is 33 euros.

7. Lyon

Seventh in the ranking, the Lyon metropolis offers an hourly parking rate of 2 euros and has set its FPS at 60 euros. If the latter seems high, the city is nevertheless in a certain way generous with regard to its parking limit, which is much higher than that of other metropolises: ten consecutive hours.

6. Marseille

In sixth place in the ranking of cities where parking is the most expensive, we find Marseille. The “capital” of Bouches-du-Rhône offers an hourly rate of 1.50 euros and an FPS of 17 euros. It’s its four-hour parking limit that makes it less attractive than Lyon.

5. Rennes

The Breton city comes in fifth place in the ranking. To park in the city of Rennes, you have to pay 2 euros per hour. The parking limit is set at four hours with an FPS of 34 euros.

4. Nantes

Nantes moved to the foot of the podium, occupying the fourth position. It takes 2.30 euros per hour to be able to park in the streets of the Pays de la Loire prefecture. The FPS has been set at 34.50 euros by the municipality for a maximum parking time of four hours.

2 tie. Grenoble and Bordeaux

No third place for this podium but a tied second place for Grenoble and Bordeaux. The two cities offer the same prices, 2.50 euros per hour, an FPS at 35 euros and a parking limit set at four consecutive hours.

1. Paris

The French capital is very well at the top of the ranking of the most expensive metropolises in France in terms of parking. To be able to hope to park in the capital, it is thus necessary on average to count an hourly cost of 5 euros. The city is divided into two distinct areas. Zone 1 which extends from the 1st arrondissement to the 11th, in which you have to pay 6 euros per hour and zone 2 from the 12th to the 20th in which you have to pay 4 euros per hour. Beyond six hours of parking, the post-parking package (FPS) is 75 euros.
