Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated during this period

The UAE Ministry of Health has launched SPHERE, an e-public health system, an e-platform for early detection and monitoring of future epidemic diseases.۔

A new system based on the latest technologies has been launched as part of the Ministry’s participation in the Arab Health 2022 to be held in Dubai from January 24 to 27.

The platform aims to provide an integrated system for early monitoring, follow-up and management of incidents affecting public health and to strengthen liaison with the public and private health sectors and other stakeholders.

Sphere provides a unified national database that enhances disease prevention by sharing and exchanging information locally, regionally and globally.

SPHERE is designed to play a key role in disease surveillance in order to achieve rapid response to infectious diseases, assess health risk burden, prioritize public health measures and take control measures. In addition to monitoring data and information for impact monitoring, the new system supports research that helps determine the foundations and standards for the development of public health policies and strategies.

Abdullah Ahli, Acting Assistant Under-Secretary, Support Services Sector, said that this is an important part of the precautionary and proactive strategy adopted by the Ministry in collaboration with the local health authorities.

He said the current global epidemic, such as epidemics, could never be tackled without the use of technology and that data was an important basis for combating future epidemics.

“We provide tools to manage the community’s response to epidemics,” he said.

He emphasized that the UAE has a strong epidemic, rapid response, control measures and advanced laboratory capabilities to help maintain healthcare in the country.
