Operation Legion: 22-Year-Old Convicted for Child Exploitation Material Storage, 12-Month Probation

A 22-year-old man has been found guilty of a serious crime. He was convicted for storing child sexual exploitation material. This disturbing content was found across two of his Google accounts and several phone lines.

This case began with a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, known as NCMEC. This U.S.-based organization works closely with police forces worldwide. They help in finding missing children and stopping child exploitation crimes online. The First-Turn Sexual Offenses Prosecutor’s Office then took charge of the investigation.

The National Police Directorate of Investigations led the local effort. Their Cybercrime Unit, specifically the Sexual Offenses Investigation Department, spearheaded the probe. They traced the illicit material downloads back to a specific location. Officers then secured a search warrant for the suspect’s home.

During the search, police seized multiple electronic devices. On these devices, they uncovered a staggering 1,057 files. All of these files contained material related to child abuse and sexual exploitation. The young man was arrested shortly after.

He faced charges and was ultimately convicted. The crime was for habitually storing pornographic material that featured images or other representations of minors for personal consumption. As a result, he must now serve a 12-month probationary period.
