Portugal will send a strong contingent of 11 swimmers, including four Paris 2024 Olympians, to the European Short Course Championships in Lublin, Poland, from December 2 to 7.
The presence of Olympians Diogo Ribeiro, Miguel Nascimento, João Costa, and Camila Rebelo underscores the team’s high ambitions for the competition. All 11 members of the squad are scheduled to compete in at least two distances.
Diogo Ribeiro, a prominent figure in Portuguese swimming, is set to participate in four events. These include the 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly, along with the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle races.
Camila Rebelo will swim in the 50-meter, 100-meter, and 200-meter backstroke events, as well as the 400-meter individual medley. João Costa is slated for the 50-meter, 100-meter, and 200-meter backstroke. Miguel Nascimento will compete in the 50-meter butterfly and 50-meter backstroke.
The remainder of the Portuguese team includes Alexandre Ferreira (50m, 100m breaststroke), Vasco Morgado (100m, 200m individual medley, 100m butterfly), and Ana Guedes (50m, 100m butterfly).
Also on the roster are Ana Rodrigues (50m, 100m breaststroke), Francisca Martins (200m, 400m, 800m freestyle), Mariana Cunha (50m, 100m butterfly, 200m individual medley, 200m butterfly), and Rafaela Azevedo (50m, 100m backstroke).
Beyond individual races, Portugal will enter several relay competitions. These feature the men’s 4×50-meter medley, women’s 4×50-meter freestyle and medley, and mixed 4×50-meter freestyle and medley.
Ricardo Antunes, the national technical director, will lead the Portuguese delegation. The coaching staff comprises Samie Elias from CAR Jamor, Gonçalo Neves from CTAR Coimbra, and guest coach Rafael Ribas.
