NVIDIA RTX 30 and 40 Users Experience Performance Issues with Latest Drivers

Gamers with NVIDIA’s RTX 40 and RTX 30 graphics cards are running into trouble. Developers of games like inZOI and The First Berserker: Khazan say the latest NVIDIA drivers are causing performance issues. They’re telling players to avoid updating to the newest versions.

The problems started showing up after users installed the latest drivers. Players reported stuttering, frame rate drops, and games crashing. To fix the issue, developers suggest using an older driver version – 566.36, released in December 2024.

What’s going on with the drivers?

For RTX 40 users, the older driver seems to be the best option for now. Those with RTX 30 cards can stick with the latest driver, but if they notice any issues, downgrading to 566.36 is recommended.

The same advice applies to players of The First Berserker: Khazan. RTX 40 users are experiencing performance problems with the new drivers, so going back to 566.36 is the way to go. RTX 30 users can keep their current driver unless they run into trouble.

A familiar problem

Driver issues aren’t new, but this latest round of problems raises concerns about the quality of NVIDIA’s recent updates. Some users think that optimizations for newer cards might be messing with the performance of older models, causing compatibility issues.

So far, NVIDIA hasn’t made an official statement about the problem. But game developers are keeping a close eye on the situation and warn players to be cautious when updating their drivers. According to WCCFTech, this issue has been reported by multiple users and is not isolated to a specific game or system configuration.
