North Korea Warship Damaged in Accident Seen by Kim Jong-un

A serious accident has damaged a new warship in North Korea. The incident happened in front of the country’s leader, Kim Jong-un. He’s furious and wants those responsible to be punished.

The warship was being built at a shipyard in Chongjin. Satellite images show the damage. The ship is tilted to one side, with a large blue tarp covering part of it. Some of the ship’s hull is on the ground. It looks like the ship may have slipped off its platform or had an accident during launch.

The North Korean government says the damage isn’t too bad. They claim there’s no hole in the ship’s hull, just some scratches on the side. But the incident is a big deal. The government has called in the shipyard manager, Hong Gil-ho, for questioning. They think it’ll take about 10 days to fix the ship.

Kim Jong-un is not happy. He says the accident happened because of carelessness, irresponsibility, and unscientific thinking. He promises that those responsible will be punished at a party meeting next month.

It’s unusual for North Korea to report on accidents like this. But this time, they’re making a big deal out of it. Maybe it’s a way for Kim Jong-un to show that he’s serious about mistakes in the country’s military projects.

The accident happened just a few weeks after North Korea showed off its new 5,000-ton warship, called “Choe Hyon”. Kim Jong-un called it a “leap forward” for the country’s navy. They planned to have the ship ready by next year.

So far, no one has reported any injuries or deaths from the accident. But it could delay North Korea’s plans to build up its navy.
