Nikon’s upcoming Z5 II camera is set to arrive in April, bringing a full-frame mirrorless experience to the table. This new model is essentially an entry-level version of the higher-end Z6 III, but with specs borrowed from the retro-style Z f.
The Z5 II has the same modern body style as the Z6 III, featuring a mirrorless design. It also inherits the electronic viewfinder (EVF) and LCD screen from the Z f. However, it gets an upgraded focusing system, similar to the one found in the Nikon Z8, complete with a “bird” focusing mode.
In terms of specs, here’s what we know so far:
- No top display
- Similar size and weight to the original Z5
- Continuous shooting up to 14fps RAW, 30fps JPEG
- Dual card slots
- Pixel Shift feature for high-resolution images
- Selfie mode
- Internal N-RAW 12-bit video recording (uncropped 4K 30fps, DX crop 4K 60fps 10-bit)
- Upgraded focusing system from the Z8, including Bird AF
- Dedicated Picture Control button for quick tone switching
- EVF and LCD screen from the Z f
- Basic specs similar to the Z f, with some new features
The Z5 II seems to be a solid addition to Nikon’s lineup, offering a range of features and specs that make it an attractive option for photographers.
