Nicholas Braun: Succession Star Pleads Not Guilty to DUI, Ordered Sober

Nicholas Braun, known for playing Cousin Greg on ‘Succession,’ has entered a plea of not guilty. This move comes after his arrest for a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence. Court documents, obtained by TMZ on Monday, September 15, confirm this. Braun, who is 37, gave his lawyer permission to file the declaration.

A judge has already taken action in the case. The actor must now avoid alcohol, narcotics, and controlled substances. This order will stay in place as the legal process moves forward.

The news of Braun’s arrest first came out on September 2. Carroll County Jail in New Hampshire told Us Weekly about it. He was arrested for DUI and later released. Records show he left jail on August 30.

TMZ reported that Braun was held for around an hour. He was then allowed to leave jail on his own promise to appear in court. Us Weekly reached out to Braun’s team for their side of the story.

This legal challenge pops up two years after ‘Succession’ wrapped up. Braun played the wonderfully awkward Cousin Greg. His performance even earned him three Emmy nominations. He was recognized for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Since the show’s finale, Braun has kept busy with new projects. These include ‘Splitsville’ and ‘Saturday Night.’ Plus, he has ‘Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie’ coming in 2026. He’s expected to star alongside Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson in that thriller.

Beyond his acting work, Braun has recently shared a glimpse into his personal life. He’s been seen with his girlfriend, Hyunji Ward. Romance rumors started swirling in 2024. They were spotted together at an HBO and Max Emmy after-party.

The couple seemed to confirm their relationship publicly. This happened when he kissed her at the Critics Choice Awards. ‘Succession’ had just won the award for Best Drama Series. Then, in April, Braun made it Instagram official. He posted a series of sweet photos celebrating Ward’s birthday.

He captioned the pictures with heartfelt words. “Happy birthday to my sweet sweet GIRLFRIEND!” Braun wrote. “You are the real joy of my life. I’m my best self with you! Like when you said I could rock this fork shirt. You were right. I adore you ❤️.” Even his ‘Succession’ co-star Sarah Snook jumped into the comments. She wished @_bunji a happy birthday. Snook also added, “Hope to see you soon in NYC! Xx.”

This new romance marks a big shift for Braun. Back in 2021, he opened up to The New York Times. He admitted he had “never had a long-term relationship.” He shared his feelings, saying, “I want it and still, I’m unable to get it.” He described hitting a wall in past attempts. “I look for it and then I run into a wall where I’m like, ‘I can’t go any further in this. I have to get out.'” Braun believed the right relationship would happen eventually. “I do think it will happen at the right time with the right person,” he said then.
