Murder Suspect Arrested in Sayago

Police in Sayago, Uruguay have apprehended a 27-year-old man wanted for the murder of Arturo Espinosa, a 27-year-old victim who was killed on June 20 in the Cerro Norte neighborhood of Montevideo.

Suspect Identified and Charged

The suspect was arrested during a routine police check, where officers observed him walking in the area. He has a prior criminal record and DNA evidence was left at the crime scene, linking him to the crime.

Homicide Prosecutor Takes Custody

The suspect is currently in the custody of the homicide prosecutor, Mirta Morales, awaiting further investigation and prosecution.

Third Suspect Remains at Large

According to sources from the investigation, a third suspect, a 23-year-old man with a criminal record, remains at large. The suspect has been identified through fingerprint evidence and is wanted for his involvement in the crime.

Previous Charges and Investigations

In related news, a 26-year-old man was previously charged and placed in preventive detention for 150 days. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges are expected to be filed.

Victim’s Family Speaks Out

Espinosa’s family has claimed that he was killed by mistake, despite having no criminal record. He worked at a job in Paso Molino and was sleeping in his home when the crime occurred.

Crime Scene Details

On the morning of June 20, three men dressed as police officers entered Espinosa’s home, shouting "this is a raid" before shooting him multiple times. The crime scene was located at Pasaje 104 and Porto Alegre.
