Netflix Games Exec Doubts Consoles Are Gaming’s Future

The way we play games is changing. Netflix launched its gaming service in 2021, offering members access to a ton of games without needing a console. This move made gaming more accessible to millions of people.

Alain Tascan, the head of Netflix Games, recently shared his thoughts on the future of gaming. He thinks consoles won’t be as popular as they used to be. Kids these days, around 8-10 years old, aren’t dreaming of getting the latest consoles like PS6. Instead, he believes they’ll prefer playing digital games.

This shift makes sense. Kids are growing up in a world where they interact with digital screens all the time – in cars, at home, and on their smartphones. Consoles, on the other hand, require a lot of extra gear, like special controllers. This limits who can play.

Die-hard gamers might not agree with Tascan’s views. That’s okay. The console market is mostly made up of adults. But for kids, it’s different. They want something easy to access. That’s where Netflix Games comes in, targeting mobile devices and younger players.
