While Netflix lost a few million subscribers in the first quarters of 2022, the streaming service gained nearly 8 million subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2022, a number that surpassed its initial losses.
Now, Netflix is aware that it will lose subscribers after its password-sharing crackdown this year.
In an attempt to avoid possible victims, the company announced plans to reduce subscription costs in more than 30 countries. wall street newspaper reports that some discounts are 50% off current monthly subscriptions, while others are smaller but significant.
Unfortunately, Netflix has not provided the full list of countries where subscription prices will be reduced, but some of the places where these changes will be introduced.
Middle Eastern countries such as Yemen, Jordan, Libya and Iran will benefit from significant discounts. The same applies to at least three Eastern European countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia.
As for Latin America, we know of three countries where Netflix plans to reduce subscription prices: Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela. Finally, customers in many countries across Africa and Asia will enjoy cheaper Netflix subscriptions, including Kenya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.
While Netflix has confirmed that it is updating pricing for its plans in some countries, it has not given specific details on pricing.
As competition from other streaming services gets fiercer, Netflix is taking steps to ensure customers remain loyal to its products no matter where they live.
