The gaming world is abuzz with excitement as Naughty Dog, the renowned developer behind some of the most iconic games, is set to release its latest title, Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet, exclusively on the PS5. Despite some initial drama surrounding the game’s characters and mixed reviews, the studio’s reputation has generated a significant following, making it one of the most anticipated AAA games.
In a recent podcast interview on MinnMax, Ben Hanson, a key member of the development team, revealed that creating Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet has been the most ambitious project for Naughty Dog to date. Hanson also disclosed that the team drew significant inspiration from FromSoftware’s masterpiece, Elden Ring, particularly in terms of player freedom. This influence is evident in the game’s design, allowing players to explore celestial bodies with a level of autonomy similar to that found in Elden Ring.
Hanson noted that he couldn’t discuss this aspect earlier, when the game was first announced, but with the recent gameplay leaks, he’s now able to share the extent of Elden Ring’s influence on Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet. If the game lives up to the developer’s promises, it could mark a significant shift for Naughty Dog, which typically focuses on more linear storytelling, albeit with some exploratory elements. This new title might just be the open-world game that combines the studio’s signature narrative strengths with a high degree of player freedom and innovative gameplay mechanics, resulting in something entirely fresh and unprecedented.
