Nairo Quintana meets Marc Soler while looking for a team

Nairo will have a meeting with the UCI: the rumors are denied

Nairo Quintana prepares the rest of 2023 in Europe. For that, he trains with cyclists who are at the level of the great races such as Marc Soler, of the UAE Emirates, with whom he has a past remembered by a reaction from the Spanish in the Vuelta a España 2019 when he showed his anger because he received a team order to support the Colombian.

The Movistar Team asked Soler to stop to help Quintana in the race. Marc intended to follow his path regardless of the instructions he had from before beginning the final stretch of that stage. It should be remembered that Quintana was in search of the red shirt in La Vuelta. Years later, Nairo showed that he forgave the Spaniard for what happened, since they are training partners.

“We have come to win the Tour of Spain with Nairo Quintana or Alejandro Valverde and that is what we are for. It’s a moment that will never happen again”, Soler expressed at the time after the incident that took place. Now, they train together thinking in what comes for both of us. For Soler, the Tour of Catalonia and the Basque Country and for Nairo, to be ready for when he can get a squad to run in 2023.

The MotoGP rider, Aleix Espargaró, also accompanied Nairo and Soler and shared a video on his social networks. José Joaquín Vargas, Víctor de la Parte and Ivo Oliveira also appear. The Colombian takes advantage of these weeks to keep up with the competition while defining what will be your future.

Nairo has not yet made his team official for this 2023

After leaving the ranks of Arkéa Samsic, the 33-year-old continues to train on his own. He was present at the 2023 Bucaramanga National Road Championships with the Colombian National Team, in which he was third in the elite event. That has been the only competition that Nairo has played this year. “I am in good shape to compete in the highest category”, stated last January.

“As I have said before, I thank the Colombian teams for giving me their hand. I think that I am still prepared to continue representing my country in the best races in the world. I am willing to be hired by a top-flight team and I keep preparing. I have to travel and sit down with them to talk about the future,” said the cyclist at a press conference.

Despite the rumors that there is already a team interested in the Colombian cyclist and that it is also a World Tour, the cyclist’s environment assured that it is not true. “There have been conversations and meetings during Nairo’s stay in Europe, but for now there is no team that has offered something serious. There is no news, everything is speculation ”, said.
