A 23-year-old man was shot on Saturday night while leaving a pizzeria in the Cerro neighborhood of Montevideo. The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. near the intersection of Grecia and Japan streets.
Circumstances of the Shooting
According to eyewitnesses and police sources, a motorcycle with two occupants approached the victim. Shots were fired from the motorcycle, with approximately 10 shell casings found at the scene.
Victim’s Condition and Investigation
The victim sustained three gunshot wounds to his legs and was initially taken to the Cerro hospital. Doctors confirmed that he was shot three times but is currently out of danger. He was later transferred to the Maciel hospital in Ciudad Vieja for further treatment.
The police are reviewing footage from nearby cameras to identify the perpetrators, who fled the scene on the motorcycle. The victim has no prior criminal record, and the investigation is ongoing.
