The Mumbai Indians have halted RCB’s winning streak, preventing them from achieving a hat-trick of victories in the Women’s Premier League. This comes after the Mumbai team secured a four-wicket win against RCB. Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that paid off as RCB was restricted to a score of 167 runs. The Mumbai team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Amanjot Kaur, successfully chased down the target.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s Half-Century Steals the Show
Mumbai didn’t exactly get off to a flying start, with Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews failing to make a significant impact. However, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur took it upon themselves to turn the tide. Brunt scored 42 runs, while captain Harmanpreet played a stellar innings of 50 runs. The duo shared a 57-run partnership for the second wicket, laying the foundation for the Mumbai team’s victory. Amanjot Kaur also made a crucial contribution, scoring 34 runs. The partnership between Harmanpreet and Amanjot was particularly noteworthy, as they shared 62 runs for the fifth wicket, ultimately helping the Mumbai team secure the win.
Mandhana’s Aggressive Start
RCB’s start was far from ideal, with the team struggling at 57 runs for four wickets at one point. However, Elise Perry’s impressive 81 runs off just 43 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes, helped the team recover and post a respectable score. Richa Ghosh (28 off 25 balls) and captain Smriti Mandhana (26 off 13 balls) also made useful contributions to RCB’s cause. Mandhana, in particular, started aggressively, hitting four fours and a six in her innings. However, her dismissal marked the beginning of the end for RCB’s top order. Amanjot, Mumbai’s medium-fast bowler, was the most successful bowler, taking three wickets for 22 runs.
RCB Tops the Table
Despite the loss, RCB remains at the top of the WPL 2025 points table, having played three matches and accumulated four points. Their net run rate stands at 0.835. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, is placed second, also with four points, but with a lower net run rate of 0.610. The battle for supremacy in the Women’s Premier League is heating up, and it will be interesting to see how the teams perform in their upcoming matches.
