Mukesh Khanna is no stranger to controversy, and his latest target is comedian Kapil Sharma. On Shardul Pandit’s podcast, Khanna recalled a past encounter with Sharma at the Gold Awards. According to Khanna, Sharma didn’t even recognize him when they met backstage. Sharma sat with Khanna for about 20 minutes, never introduced himself, and left immediately after receiving his award.
Khanna believes this lack of etiquette reflects a larger issue in Bollywood. He pointed out that other big stars, like Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan, have shown him respect in public. For example, Khanna and Bachchan once struck up a conversation on a flight from London. “We didn’t know each other, but we talked because we were both actors,” he said. Similarly, Hrithik Roshan complimented Khanna at an airport, saying, “There are two superheroes standing here right now.”
Khanna also criticized the industry’s declining standards of professionalism. “The film industry is losing its sense of decorum,” he said. To Khanna, Sharma’s behavior is a prime example of this trend. In contrast, he praised actors who show respect to their peers, even if they’ve never met before.
In the same podcast, Khanna made some interesting comments about Shatrughan Sinha’s voice. He claimed that Sinha has been using a fake voice throughout his career, except in the 1974 film “Dost.” “He speaks from his throat, not his stomach,” Khanna said of Sinha’s distinctive voice. Despite this, Sinha’s voice has become iconic in Indian cinema.
