MS Dhoni’s family, including his parents, wife Sakshi, and daughter, watched the Chennai Super Kings take on the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 match. As photos of Dhoni’s family surfaced, rumors about his potential retirement from the IPL started circulating.
Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has now weighed in on Dhoni’s rumored retirement. Fleming said, “It’s not my job to comment on someone’s retirement. I have no idea what’s going on. I’m still enjoying working with him. He’s still playing well, and I don’t ask him about it.”
The Delhi Capitals set a target of 184 runs for the Chennai Super Kings. CSK had a poor start and didn’t reach 100 runs until the 15th over. Dhoni came in to bat in the 11th over when CSK needed 110 runs in 56 balls. Vijay Shankar was already set, and Dhoni, at 43, can still play explosive innings. However, after Dhoni’s arrival, CSK managed only 84 runs in about 10 overs.
Dhoni scored 30 runs in 26 balls at a strike rate of 115. Shankar, on the other hand, played at a strike rate of 128, scoring 69 runs in 54 balls. His batting style seemed more suited to Test cricket than T20. Fleming’s statement has added fuel to the speculation surrounding Dhoni’s future in the IPL.
