Portuguese club Nacional has resumed training, integrating returning international players and youth prospects as it prepares for a critical Portuguese Cup encounter this weekend, despite several key players remaining sidelined with injuries.
Winger Witi, who recently represented Mozambique internationally, participated in Tuesday’s training session. His return bolsters the squad’s readiness for the upcoming match.
Striker Chucho Ramírez is expected to rejoin the team on Thursday. He recently scored his first goal for Venezuela, securing a victory against Australia.
The team is intensifying preparations for its Portuguese Cup fourth-round clash against top-tier club Sporting Braga on Sunday. Manager Tiago Margarido oversaw the session at Campo do Centenário.
The training marked the squad’s return to work after a three-day break.
Several key players remain unavailable due to injury. Ulisses Wilson, Ivanildo Fernandes, Pablo Ruan, and Lucas França are currently with the club’s medical department.
To bolster the ranks, Nacional also called up young talent. Goalkeeper Diogo Lamy, junior player Stanyslav, and B-team duo David Filipe and Ricardo joined the first-team drills. The B-team competes in the regional Madeira competition.
Nacional is scheduled for another training session on Wednesday at Estádio de Machico. This will be a closed-door session, starting at 10:30 AM local time (UTC+0).
