A life was tragically lost on Sunday night along Route 9 in Rocha. Just before eight o’clock, a severe head-on collision occurred at kilometer 206. It involved a car and a motorcycle, bringing a sudden halt to the evening’s traffic.
The driver of the motorcycle, who was riding alone, died right at the crash site. Authorities have not yet identified this individual. In the other vehicle, a 25-year-old man was driving. He walked away from the wreckage without a single scratch.
Police performed an alcohol test on the car driver. The results showed no alcohol in his system. Records indicate the car was traveling west when the accident happened. The motorcycle was moving in the opposite direction, toward the east.
The severe nature of the incident forced a complete shutdown of the highway. Traffic police, known as Caminera, quickly responded. They set up detours, sending vehicles onto smaller, internal roads nearby. This helped manage the flow of cars around the crash scene.
Caminera officials shared details in their official report. They stated that investigators are currently working to determine exactly how the two vehicles collided. For now, the main route remains entirely blocked. Drivers must continue to use the urban area’s internal road network.
