Miss Universe Co-Owner Wanted: Arrest Warrant Issued in $930,000 Fraud

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jakapong “Anne” Jakrajutatip, co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization. She failed to appear for a hearing in a fraud case.

The Southern Bangkok Civil Court issued the warrant after Jakrajutatip, 46, did not show up on Tuesday, November 25. Officials reportedly consider her a flight risk.

The fraud case accuses Jakrajutatip of concealing information from a plastic surgeon who invested in her company. A statement read in court by Agence France-Presse indicated she invited the plaintiff to invest “knowing of her inability to return the money within the agreed time.”

Jakrajutatip was initially accused of fraud but released on bail. The lawsuit seeks $930,000. Her non-appearance for the verdict led to the arrest warrant, and the hearing is now rescheduled for December 26.

This development follows Jakapong’s resignation from her Miss Universe Organization roles in June. Thai officials had made allegations regarding financial statements she submitted.

The Miss Universe Organization previously stated that these legal proceedings are “totally separate.” This statement refers to the fraud case.

The organization itself recently faced controversy during the Miss Universe 2025 pageant, held in Bangkok, Thailand, on Thursday, November 20. Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch was crowned the new winner amidst the drama.

On November 4, several contestants walked out of a meeting led by pageant organizer Nawat Itsaragrisil. Itsaragrisil criticized Bosch for declining a photo shoot invitation to promote Thailand.

He was heard telling contestants, “Be careful. You are in Thailand. You are in a game.” When Bosch tried to defend herself, Itsaragrisil reportedly called her “stupid” and summoned security.

Other contestants then rose and left with Bosch in protest. Itsaragrisil was subsequently fired from this year’s pageant.

Hours after the incident, the Miss Universe Organization issued a statement. It announced a high-level delegation, led by CEO Mario Búcaro, would travel to Thailand.

The mission aimed to “strengthen collaboration,” “ensure a safe and professional environment,” and reaffirm the organization’s “commitment to transparency, respect, and unity.” The organization also reiterated its mission to promote respect and opportunity for women.

Itsaragrisil apologized for his actions at a November 5 press conference. He stated, “I am human. I didn’t want to do something like that.”

Raúl Rocha, President of the Miss Universe Organization, also addressed the situation. He affirmed, “I will not allow the values of respect and dignity towards women to be violated.”

Following her victory, Bosch reflected on Instagram. She wrote, “Today I reaffirmed that what God has destined for you, neither envy stops it, nor destiny aborts it, nor luck changes it.”
