Just days before she was set to pass on her crown, Jennifer Colón, the reigning Miss Universe Puerto Rico, surprised everyone with some big news. This past weekend, the 37-year-old model welcomed her fourth child into the world. She excitedly shared the story of a natural birth that, while smooth, came a little sooner than expected.
Jennifer told the show ‘Lo sé todo’ in an interview that her baby arrived at 37 weeks. The original due date was August 22nd, which would have been closer to 40 weeks. Even though it was an early arrival, it wasn’t a total shock for Jennifer. Her two older children also made their grand entrance around the 37-week mark.
Still, Jennifer Colón described this birth as “unexpected.” With a beaming smile, she said, “I was ready for anything, but happy, truly happy. It was such a beautiful birth.”
Colón also mentioned that, just like her previous deliveries, she chose to give birth without medication. However, this time was different in one key way: her son was born looking up. This position made the process a bit trickier and stretched her labor to about eight hours.
“It took a little longer than usual,” Miss Puerto Rico explained. “My other births were 4 and 5 hours, this one lasted 8.” She emphasized her preference for births without medical intervention, stating, “I like to do it supernatural.”
Jennifer Colón’s New Baby Still Needs a Name
Jennifer, who was born in Connecticut but has deep Puerto Rican roots, spoke with US Weekly en Español back in February. She shared details about her time on the reality show ‘Super Chef Celebrities’. She talked about her cooking journey and how the opportunity let her show a different side of herself.
Now, after her recent delivery, Jennifer Colón revealed something that has captured a lot of public attention: her newborn son doesn’t have a name yet. The beauty queen admitted that they had already picked “Lucca.” But after seeing his little face, that name just didn’t feel right anymore.
Laughing, she said, “We’re in that push and pull at home about what name we’re going to give him.” Right now, they are considering “Jonah,” after her fiancé and the baby’s father, along with “Enzo” and “Iker.” But they haven’t made a final choice.
Despite the baby’s early arrival, Jennifer seems calm and grateful. She confirmed that both she and her new little one are in perfect health. Motherhood, she has said many times, is one of the parts of her life she enjoys the most.
