The game market itself is growing quickly. Experts predict its value will hit $2.372 billion USD by 2025. This growth happens at an average rate of 7.09% each year. More than 30 million people play games in the country. Mobile games, esports, and digital content are now just a regular part of daily life for many. This makes the game industry a prime spot for new opportunities.
Mr. Prasop Rungngern, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, spoke about this vision. He said the Ministry strongly believes in using “soft power” to drive economic growth. Games are a perfect fit. They are more than just fun. They let local talents mix culture with technology. This offers a way to show off national identity to the whole world. The goal is to help local game makers compete on a global scale.
The Ministry of Culture plans to help in many ways. This includes supporting the creation of new game ideas, offering platforms for competitions, improving technology, developing new game systems, and building international connections. All these steps are meant to make games a creative force for the economy. The country hopes to see its soft power economy grow significantly by 2027.
Mr. Prasop also noted that TIGS 2025 is an international game show. It promotes and supports local game development. It also helps people understand the value of films and videos. A key part of the show focuses on games that use local culture and wisdom to create soft power. This is the second year for the event, following a successful first run. This year, the organizers have made the event bigger. They added more game types, covering every part of the industry, from creating to selling games. The show is a meeting point for game developers, business owners, investors, cosplayers, students, and game fans. They can all meet, share ideas, and take part in the event. Organizers expect over 30,000 people to attend this year.
There will be lots of exciting things to do at the event, split into five main areas:
- Game Developer Zone: This area will feature 40 local game companies and top publishers. They will show off their high-quality games and the newest IT gear.
- Board Game Zone: Here, you’ll find local board and card games that are popular worldwide. Some examples include Age of Bitcoin and Summoner Master.
- Cosplay Zone: Famous cosplayers from the region, Japan, and Hong Kong will be there. They will add color to the event and meet their fans.
- E-Sport Zone: Get inspired by professional players from teams like Buriram United Esports and King of Gamers. They will share tips on becoming a pro esports athlete.
- University Gamer Zone: Students from Mahidol University’s ICT faculty will display their creative game projects. This zone helps them learn and find career paths.
The event will also host international talks with many global game experts. This includes an executive from Talon Esports. Plus, there will be special shows and mini concerts by popular artists such as Perses, LYKN, Ink Waruntorn, and many Vtuber performers.
