Millie Bobby Brown Filed Harassment Claim Against David Harbour Despite “Paternal” Bond

A harassment and bullying complaint was filed against David Harbour by his Stranger Things co-star Millie Bobby Brown, according to a recent report. The complaint was reportedly made before filming began for the fifth and final season of the popular Netflix series.

An unnamed source told the Daily Mail on November 1, 2025, that the complaint involved "pages and pages of accusations." The investigation into these claims reportedly spanned several months. Brown’s allegations focused on harassment and bullying on set, explicitly not including any accusations of sexual misconduct.

Brown reportedly had a representative present on set during the production of Stranger Things season five, which concluded filming in December 2024. Neither Brown nor Harbour, nor Netflix, have issued public statements regarding these accusations.

The complaint comes after a decade of working together on Stranger Things, where Brown, who was 11 when the series began, portrays Eleven, and Harbour plays her adoptive father, Jim Hopper. The two actors have often spoken publicly about their close, "father-daughter" bond.

Brown previously praised Harbour, alongside fellow co-star Winona Ryder, as parental figures on set. In 2018, she told Variety they would ask her questions like, "Stop running, what are you eating, why are you eating that?"

She noted that Harbour would also inquire, "Another boy?" Brown further described their relationship at a 2018 PaleyFest event, acknowledging "moments of tension" as she grew up. She stated they "would get mad at each other" and "express our feelings on and off set," which contributed to the authenticity of their scenes.

In a 2016 interview on The Tonight Show, Brown referred to Harbour as a "giant teddy bear." She added that he was "funny, serious when he has to be, and always looks out for me." Her most recent comments, published in an October 2025 Empire Magazine issue, highlighted their connection. She said they "connected on another level" and that she would "always tease him like a daughter or a younger sister."

Harbour has also frequently discussed his paternal feelings toward Brown and other young cast members. These include Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Sadie Sink. He shared with People in 2020 that he initially maintained a more serious demeanor, similar to his character Hopper, to enrich their performances.

Harbour explained that as the seasons progressed, they became "like a family," allowing his "soft side" to emerge. He also expressed feeling "protective" of Brown. During a 2021 appearance on "That Scene with Dan Patrick," he noted their special relationship began when she was very young, before her widespread fame.

He voiced concerns for her well-being amid immense fame, stating, "I worry about her and the fame and all the things she has to deal with." He reiterated these fears at the 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards, emphasizing the "extraordinarily difficult" nature of navigating such fame with a developing brain. He concluded by expressing his hope for her future, saying, "I want her to be an artist who, when I’m in the nursing home, can bring me her Oscars."
