Miderec delivers resources to the Dominican delegation, heading to the Special Olympics World Cups

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec) delivered this Monday the economic resources to the Dominican delegation that will compete in the Special Olympics World Games, which will be held from June 12 to 26 in Berlin, Germany.

The Vice Minister of Sports, Franklin De la Mota, representing the head of the portfolio, Francisco Camacho, delivered 3.2 million pesos to the board of directors of the Special Olympics Montserrat Puig, in an act held in the James Rodríguez room, of Miderec, in which José Paulino, director of the Program for High Performance Athletes (Parni) and José Luis Suero, liaison between Miderec and the sports federations, also participated.

This contribution made by Miderec is intended to cover air tickets, lodging and food, among other aspects, for the 13 special athletes who will participate in the contest. Coaches and members of the organization will travel with them.

The Dominican athletes, who were also present at the event, will compete in the disciplines of athletics, swimming, gymnastics and bowling. The fair will bring together more than 7,000 athletes representing 170 countries, and 25 sports will be played.

While De la Mota said he was proud to contribute to this participation of national athletes in Special Olympics and expressed that a “dignified” performance is expected of them.

He stressed that the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, has always shown great support for inclusion. “Our great interest is that they come with the flag always held high,” added De la Mota, highlighting the support of Minister Francisco Camacho.

For his part, Puig specified that “we want to greatly thank the Ministry of Sports for this great support that once again offers us to the Special Olympics; we feel proud and we will go to this event where we hope to perform brilliantly,” said Puig. .

“We hope to live new experiences, new challenges, which will help us strengthen ourselves in professional and sports aspects. Our mindset is to place the Dominican Republic at the top,” she added.

He also highlighted the effort made by the group of mothers and coaches towards young people. “They have contributed so that sport is an important and transcendental entity for their children,” she explained.
