For over a decade, the tech giant has been silent on sales figures for its Xbox game consoles, leaving fans and analysts alike wondering.
However, during the recent festival Best International Games Festival 2023 held in Brazil, Microsoft took the opportunity to reveal the long-awaited numbers.
As of June 2023, total Xbox Series S|X sales have reached an impressive 21 million units. This confirms the estimate that, at the beginning of this year, an external agency made that the sales volume would be around 22 million.
The official figures released by Microsoft match these estimates, demonstrating the accuracy of forecasts by industry experts.
In addition, the Xbox One series combined salesthat encompasses the first generation One S and One X, have surpassed an impressive number of 58 million units. This shows the popularity of the previous generation of Xbox consoles among gamers across the world.
In comparison, the PlayStation 5 from Sony, direct competitor of the Xbox series, sold approximately 38.5 million units until May 2023. This is in line with Microsoft’s statements last year, which indicated that sales of the Xbox console were approximately half of those of Sony’s PlayStation.
