Miami Heat Lose Tyler Herro and Rotation Pieces Before Wizards Matchup

The Miami Heat face the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night with a severely depleted roster, missing four of their six leading scorers. Point guard Tyler Herro was a late scratch and officially ruled out due to left quadriceps soreness after testing his leg in warmups. The Heat enter the contest at the Kaseya Center with a 36-29 record, while the Wizards hold a 16-47 record.

Rookie center Kel’el Ware is also sidelined. Ware was ruled out due to a shoulder injury sustained in the team’s previous game against the Detroit Pistons. The Miami Herald and the Associated Press reported the final official injury updates between 6:56 p.m. EST and 7:24 p.m. EST on Tuesday.

Norman Powell remains out with a groin injury. Andrew Wiggins is sidelined with a toe injury. Nikola Jovic is unavailable due to lower back management. These absences force head coach Erik Spoelstra to utilize a skeletal rotation for the Eastern Conference matchup.

Herro’s injury halts a significant individual performance streak. He was recently named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week after averaging 26.3 points during a five-game winning streak for Miami. The Heat currently sit in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings, fighting to secure a top-six guaranteed playoff seed to avoid the Play-In Tournament.

Spoelstra expanded the active rotation to compensate for the missing scorers. Pelle Larsson, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Myron Gardner, and Keshad Johnson are absorbing the available minutes. Gardner and Johnson are operating as G-League call-ups.

Washington enters the game on an eight-game losing streak. The Wizards possess a 5-25 road record this season.
