Mexico takes five golds on the last day of swimming at the Central American Games

Mexico won five gold medals this Thursday on the last day of swimming at the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador and Santo Domingo.

The North American country achieved gold in the women’s 50-meter butterfly event, thanks to swimmer Tayde Sansores, who did a time of 26.82.

The Colombian Lismar Lyon took the silver (26.97) and the representative of Bermuda Emma Harvey obtained the bronze (27:11).

In the men’s 200 meter breaststroke event, the Mexican Miguel de Lara won gold with a time of 2:10.85, the silver went to the also Mexican Andres Puente (2:12.70) and the bronze for the Honduran Julio Horrego (2:15.70).

In addition, the North American delegation added another gold in the women’s 50-meter freestyle.

The Mexican Tayde Revilak prevailed with a time of 25.44 over the representative of Bermuda Madelyn Moore (25.79) -silver medal- and the Trinidadian Cherelle Thompson (25.92), who got the bronze.

In 4×100 meter relay combining male kings were the Aztecs.

The Mexicans Jorge Andres Iga, Miguel de Lara, Diego Camacho, Jorge Iga, José Martínez, Maximiliano Vega, Andres Puente and Ascanio Fernández took the gold with a time of 3:39.54.

The silver went to the representatives of Venezuela (3:46.86) and the bronze went to the Dominican Republic (3:51.86).

In the women’s competition, Mexico also prevailed.

The Mexicans Byanca Rodríguez, Miranda Grana, Maria Mata, Revilak, Maria Méndez, Maria Jiménez, Sansores and Susana Hernández set a record with a time of 4:07.14 and won the gold medal.

The silver went to Colombia (4:11.84). The bronze was in the hands of Venezuela (4:17.59).

With these five medals, the North American country closed its participation in this discipline with 43 medals obtained – out of the 160 in total. Of which 17 are gold, 17 silver and 11 bronze.

OTHER WINNERS OF THE LAST DAY

Puerto Rico, Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago they also won gold on the day.

In the women’s 200 backstroke, Puerto Rican swimmer Kristen Romano won the gold medal with a time of 2:12.56, the silver went to the Mexican Athena Meneses (2:15.06) and Jasmin Pistelli (2:16.49), from Colombia, obtained bronze.

In the women’s 4×200 meter freestyle relay, the Cuban Elisbet Gámez, who in three participations in the Central American and Caribbean Games had not obtained gold until now, Andrea Becalli, Lorena González and Laurent Estrada won gold with a time of 8:10.47 Mexico ( 8:17.58) got silver and Colombia (8:22.69) got bronze.

In the men’s 50-meter freestyle, Trinidadian Dylan Carter set a new record with a time of 21.87 and received the gold medal. Silver went to Aruba’s representative, Mikel Schreuder (22.43), and bronze went to Taylor Lamar (22.51) from Bahamas.
