McLaren wears Triple Crown

For many years that pass and many scenarios that are released, the Monaco GP is always the most special event on the Formula 1 calendar. They know it well in McLaren as one of the historical teams in the World Cup (present since 1966) and that is why they have something very unique prepared for this weekend: an exclusive decoration for your MCL60 in three colors (black, white and orange). It is a nice tribute to the three victories that gave the Woking team the Triple Crown.

It is not the first time that McLaren has prepared something special for Monaco, it already did so in 2021 with the historic blue Gulf, but this time they have gone further within the celebration of its 60th anniversary (Bruce McLaren created the team in 1963). Each color represents one of its Triple Crown jewels: the orange one on the back, to the M16C/D with which Johnny Rutherford won the Indy 500 in 1974; the white, to the MP4/2 that he won in Monaco 1984 with Alain Prost, and the black front, to the F1 GTR that JJ Lehto, Yannick Dalmas and Masanori Sekiya drove to victory in the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Running with that decoration, which they will also keep in Barcelona, ”is a privilege” for Norris and Piastri “it looks incredible”. Zak Brown, CEO, sums up what it means: “Having achieved the greatest achievement in motorsport by completing the Triple Crown, we are proud to celebrate McLaren’s rich history with a special livery for Monaco. In line with our 60th anniversary celebrations and honoring the legacy of Bruce McLaren, this design pays tribute to the three victories that make up the Triple Crown accolade.”
