AND, the first pickleball tournament inaugurates the I RFET-MAPFRE National Pickleball Circuit with the Spanish Open by Cervezas Victoria, to be held from June 28 to June 30 at the facilities of the Madrid Tennis Federation, with a total prize of 16,000 euros. It is the first tournament organized by the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation since the integration of pickleball into its sports structure and will be scored for the Spanish ranking and the DUPR world ranking.
The tournament will feature 250 participants from 15 countries, competing in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles in categories ranging from professional (5.0) to initial competition (3.0), for senior teams (+19) and seniors (+50). 47 pickleball courts have been installed, including a central area of three courts for the finals, and admission will be free.
The absolute test (5.0) will feature the best national specialists, including European Champion Sabrina Mendez, and international figures such as Brazilian Marcelo Garden, US Open +50 champion and APP circuit champion in the United States, and Argentine Nerea Derbies. The finals of this category will be broadcast live on RTVE Play, Tevemos, and the RFET YouTube channel, with some games broadcast on a delayed basis by Telesport.
The Spanish Open by Cervezas Victoria will also serve to begin defining the members of the MAPFRE Spanish National Team, who will attend the first European Pickleball Championship in November, under the guidance of national coach MartÃn Suarez.
This first RFET-MAPFRE National Pickleball Circuit will consist of four tests in 2024, with the next appointment being the Spain Championship, to be held on September 28 and 29 at the Plaza de España in Madrid. The venue for the Spanish Club Team Championship and the fourth national open will be announced soon, with the circuit organized by B3 Sporttainment in collaboration with the RFET.
